Mercury lawsuit defeated

Editor,
I am sad to report that Judge Sartin ruled against Sierra Club and SOS's
appeal that mercury be considered as a polluting emission from the
Suwannee/American Cement Kiln.  Mercury warnings are issued in the Lake City
Reporter against eating fish caught in one of our Outstanding Florida Waters,
the Santa Fe River, yet DEP still can permit a cement kiln to dump anywhere
from 97 to 180 additional pounds of mercury per year into the atmosphere.
Mercury causes brain damage.

I continue to be stunned that citizens have to fight the government to
protect our water and air supplies, when we all know that soon all of our
waters will be polluted, but that there won't be enough water anyway.

Come to the Three Rivers Festival in Ft. White Sunday April 30th, 2-7 PM.
Come in droves to demonstrate to Governor Bush that he and his brother will
pay the price in loss of votes because he refuses to step in and protect our
endangered Florida Environment.
